Girls on the Run of Puget Sound is dedicated to helping preteen girls live healthy lives with self-respect through the power of running. Their motto is “learn . dream . live . run.” GOTR is now looking for volunteer female coaches for the upcoming season.
Girls on the Run coaches do NOT need to be elite runners. Any woman who lives a healthy lifestyle and is committed to improving the lives of girls can be a GOTR coach.

Volunteer coaches must be available during after-school hours, twice a week for 1-1/2 hours. Each site has two to four coaches – one Head Coach and Assistant Coaches as needed. The program is offered twice a year: Fall Session (September to December) and Spring Session (March to June). Each session runs for 10 weeks. Head Coaches must be 21 years or older, and Assistant Coaches must be 16 years or older.
Girls age 8-11 train for a non-competitive 5K race at the end of the season.
The fall season begins Sept. 28. Coaching applications are due Sept. 4. Girls on the Run has 14 Puget Sound locations, including Greenwood and Loyal Heights elementary schools.

Marketing street teams are out again today hanging up SoundersFC scarves to promote the team’s upcoming season. I saw them in Fremont and have heard they were in Madison Park as well. They hit the Phinneywood area on March 5. Let us know if you see them in the ‘hood.
