If you haven’t thought about summer camps for your kids yet, here are two neighborhood camps with open spots.
The Phinney Neighborhood Preschool Co-op (PNPC) has spots for children ages 3-6 at “Camp Aloha,” the week of July 5-8. Camp is from 9:30-11:30 for four days; cost is $85.
Back for a fourth year of fabulous Hawaiian fun! Join our ohana (family) for a week of hands-on learning about the 50th state, HAWAII. ‘Auntie Laura’, a Hawaii native, her lovely hula assistant Maris, and her two middle/high school sons will share the history, culture, and traditions of the 50th state through exciting games, songs, stories and activities. Weekly activities include ukulele strumming, hula dancing, interactive projects such as building a volcano and creating art with real Hawaiian sand! Our last day of camp culminates with a mini-luau for families with entertainment and samples of traditional Hawaiian foods such as poi and haupia (coconut pudding). Hele on!
Bring a small snack and water bottle. ; )
Eco-lifestyle coach Gina Diamond is teaching “Conscious Kid Camp” Aug. 15-19 in Greenwood and Green Lake. Camp is from 1-4 p.m. daily; cost is $150 (discount for two kids from one family). Before and after care also is available for an additional charge.
The purpose of this camp is to connect your kid more deeply with their heart and the world around them while increasing mindful awareness. Curiosity, responsibility and a sense of wonder will be fostered through positive and interactive activities. Inspired by Humane Education and Brain Education, your child will be exposed to fun exercises, nature-based play, yoga, eco-art, and a service learning project. Organic snacks will be served.
