Help find this 3-legged dog

October 11th, 2010 by Dale

Update: Freya has been found.

Freya, a newly adopted dog, got loose in Phinney Ridge at 9:30 a.m. today near North 59th Street and Phinney Avenue North.

She’s a medium-size brindle pit bull who is missing one of her back legs. She’s kind of shy but will respond to treats, we’re told.

If you see her, please call Seattle Animal Shelter at (206) 386-7387 ext. 2. We called and as of this evening, the shelter had not received word she’d been found. There’s also a post in the forum with more information.

Found dog – is it yours?

December 26th, 2009 by Dale

Stephanie found this collarless dog today wandering near NW 84th Avenue and 8th Avenue NW. She took him around the neighborhood, but couldn’t find his owner, so she took him to the Greenlake Animal Hospital where they read his microchip. Alas, there was no owner information on it.

He’s at the facility waiting for his owners to claim him.

We called the animal hospital to get an update, (206) 524-6540, but they’re currently closed. If this is your dog, they’re open 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Sunday. Let us know if you’re reunited with your pet.

Update: The Kasey’s owner has been located, Stephanie says.

Have you seen this jacket?

November 28th, 2009 by Doree

Jeannette tells us that her car was broken into near 100th and Dayton Thanksgiving night, and the thief stole something very special to her.

Not much was stolen except for a very special jacket – it’s always the sentimental stuff that they go for, right? It’s a vintage mustard yellow leather jacket with metal buttons, missing its belt (because I have it!!) If you see in you alley, or in a ditch or your local consignment/vintage store, PLEASE call me. It’s just a jacket, but means a lot to me. Jeannette (206) 617-2476.

Missing a green parakeet?

September 17th, 2009 by Dale

We’re no bird experts, but that’s what we think we saw this morning near the corner of NW 73rd Street and 7th Avenue NW.

I managed to snap a fuzzy pic at a distance with a cellphone camera – see if you can spot the bird in this picture. I’d guess its wingspan is about a foot. We know that because while reaching for a real camera, it flew a couple feet over our heads, banged into a window at low speed, then fluttered off, disappearing into the morning fog before I could get a better picture.

It’s not quite a Loch Ness Monster or Chupacabra sighting (or golden pheasant or cougar, for that matter), but we thought it was quite unusual.

Help find Jack Frankenbeans

January 11th, 2009 by Dale

The Rapp family cat, Jack Frankenbeans, hasn’t come home. Is he with you? They describe him as grey and fluffy. He also likes his belly rubbed. A little 3-year-old girl and her family love and miss him very much.

If you find him, please drop him off at your local shelter (or PAWS). He’s microchipped and they will contact the family.

Tonio the cat is missing from Lower Phinney

October 8th, 2008 by Doree

Update: Tonio was found near his home Wednesday night about 9:45. Sally and Max sent out a note that read in part:

Wanted to let you know that Tonio is back in our home tonight, resting well and healthy, albeit a bit skinny, tired and somewhat traumatized from his 6 day adventure.
We got a call around 9:45 this evening from a neighbor who lives on 7th, just south of 70th.  She reported that she had seen a kitty fitting Tonio’s description in a house that is being remodeled (one door south of the yoga studio), a house currenlty not being lived in.  She noticed him thru the window last evening, then saw our posting and realized it was the same little guy.
Max and I went to the house with flashlights and called to Tonio thru the windows; it didn’t take long before he heard us and started meowing…
Doree, I would appreciate it so much if you’d post some portion of this happy ending for all to see. Not just for the folks who were kind and receptive and looking out for Tonio, but also as an important reminder to stay aware and open to what’s around us. The woman who called us was listening to her intuition as well as being a compassionate/concerned neighbor. One of the silver linings of this whole harrowing experience for me was meeting many many lovely people who invited me into their homes (basements, garages, sheds, yards) to search for Tonio. I hope I can be as helpful to others in the future

Sally & Max are desperately looking for their long-haired brown tabby named Tonio. He has a fluffy tail and was last seen wearing a pink/green/brown striped collar with a black tag. He went missing from 7013 6th Ave. NW last Thursday, Oct. 2.

While passing out flyers to neighbors this afternoon, Sally told us that Tonio is extremely shy and may be hiding in someone’s basement, garage or shed, and may not meow to be let out. If you see him, please call Sally or Max at 206-852-0568.

Missing dog roaming through area

September 28th, 2008 by Dale

UPDATE: Rosa’s owner, Oscar, reports that Rosa has come home. See the Comments section for his thanks to everyone who looked for her.

Rosa, a 10-year-old, 30 pound Jindo, went missing Friday afternoon from 5th Avenue NW between 42nd and 43rd. Someone saw her at 85th and Aurora on Saturday, so she could be in the area.

Her most distinctive feature is that she’s missing part of her right ear. She is very aloof with people but loves other dogs. Anyone having information about her can phone Oscar at (206) 419-1102.

Purebred cats go missing

August 6th, 2008 by Dale

Kaitlyn Marie, a purebred Himalayan cat, went missing over the weekend from 70th and Dibble. “She’s supposed to be in my lap at night and I miss that,” her owner, Linda explained.

A block away another cat, a purebred black manx named Bear disappeared about the same time, Linda said.

Linda said she fears raccoons might have gotten her cat, but Seattle Animal Control told her the cat’s disappearance might also be the work of a coyote roaming from Golden Gardens or Carkeek Park. Predators of the two-legged kind could also be to blame, so she’s keeping an eye on Craigslist to see if anyone is trying to sell a Himalayan.

Kaitlyn Marie has dark feet and a dark tail. She is about five years old and is chipped. If you see her, call (206) 782-3218 or (206) 909-2263.

UPDATE: Here’s more info on Bear who is a 5-year-old neutered male cat. He’s all black, has no tail (just a tuft) and is blind in his right eye. The owners hired a Search and Rescue tracker who followed the cat’s scent to Kaitlyn Marie’s home, so they fear someone walked off with one or both cats.

UPDATE to the UPDATE: Bear came home Sunday night.
