UPDATE: OWNER FOUND — Brown and white cat named Puck found, chip owner info no longer valid

January 4th, 2016 by Doree

Update: Puck has been reunited with his owner.

Earlier: Kevin says he found a very sweet, and hungry, brown and white cat with blue eyes at his door at NW 72nd Street and Sycamore Avenue last Wednesday.

The cat is chipped, but the phone number on the chip is no longer associated with the owners.

The chip says the cat’s name is Puck, he’s 12 years old, and he was registered in 2004 in Portland. When he showed up crying at our door last week, he was really skinny and hungry. He’s a very sweet guy and seems to be an indoor cat.

If you are or know the owner, please email us at tips@phinneywood.com and we’ll put you in touch with Kevin.

Gray and white cat seen around Greenwood Park – is it yours?

October 28th, 2015 by Doree

Ed tells us he’s seen a gray and white cat with no collar or tags hanging around near Greenwood Park, at North 88th Street and Fremont Avenue. He’s wondering if the cat is lost or just likes to roam.

I just spent 30+ minutes tonight (Tuesday) around 9.30pm, giving him a bit of chicken, water, and a good petting that he nuzzled out of me before he took off after something (mouse/rat?) and never returned. There was no collar nor tags and I haven’t seen it around before, but he was more or less healthy. [at least it looked like a “he” at quick glance] I apologize for the blurry photos. He wouldn’t stand still long enough for me to snap a good one. He’s a medium grey color with black speckles / stripes, a black tipped tail, and white under belly & paws. Yellow eyes, and was rather vocal once I got my phone-camera just before he ran off into the night. He seemed a bit skittish to any sudden movements or noises, but was more or less willing to approach me and not the other way around, which leads me to believe he comes from someone’s home and not a stray.

UPDATED — Skookum the cat is missing from Greenwood

October 26th, 2015 by Doree

Update: Marcy tells us she received numerous possible sightings from PhinneyWood readers, but unfortunately, found out today that Skookum had died, most likely from being hit by a car.

Earlier: Skookum, a black, short-tailed cat with green eyes, has been missing since Thursday from the 100 block of North 82nd Street in Greenwood.

He has never wandered past our block, so he could be lost if even only a few blocks away. He likes to crawl into very small spaces and under bushes – please search your homes, garages and yards. It is common for a hurt or scared cat to hide.

Any news, call 206-390-5769.
