Black shepherd dog seen running loose around Aurora Avenue this morning

September 29th, 2014 by Doree

Tina tells us she saw a dog running loose around 9 a.m. today (Monday).

I saw a black Shepard dog (with some white spots), medium size, running south on Linden and approx 70th, crossed the street (thankfully cars stopped) and all the way along Aurora, under the bridge and running fast to green lake. Trying to stop him and help getting him, but he looked frightened and run away from me very fast.

And Laura wrote to us on Saturday about what sounds like a similar dog.

925 AM today (Saturday) a dog came running East from 85th and turned south on 99 running in the middle of the street as cars swerved to miss it. It was very fast.

Description: mostly black with white accents, German shepherd build, but taller, pointed ears.

He was running and he will eventually get tired and sit on your porch and look really cute. He is about 20 pounds, has floppy ears and may or may not answer to the name Omak. He is a little scared and is a LONG way from his actual home. If you see him let us know, we will come to where he was spotted.

If you’ve seen Omak, email Eric and Stacey at bassgil@earthlink.net.

UPDATE: OWNER FOUND — Young, skinny cat found in Phinney Ridge road this weekend

August 25th, 2014 by Doree

Update: Her owner has been found! Here’s her message to the neighborhood:

Thank you to the many kind PhinneyWood blog readers who recognized Nori from the fliers around the neighborhood and got in touch with me this afternoon – I was inundated with messages! I connected with Reid, and after a three-week adventure, Nori is home – a little skinny, but otherwise no worse for wear. We live in a lovely little corner of the world, and I’m grateful to be a part of this neighborhood that helped bring my cat home. – Robin

Earlier: Reid found a young, skinny, friendly cat in the road at North 65th Street and Sycamore Avenue this weekend. The cat has no collar. Its microchip was registered to a shelter in Southern California, which released the cat to a rescue organization in November 2012. If you recognize the cat, please call Reid at 503-752-1324.

Sophie the cat is missing from her Phinney Ridge home

August 18th, 2014 by Doree

Sophie is a medium-sized black cat with a clipped right ear. She ran away near 2nd avenue NW and NW 65th Street on July 19 and is still missing.

Joshua for Sophie-resized

This photo is not of Sophie, but of a cat who looks very similar.

Sophie is a very shy indoor only cat. She will be very scared, wary. If you see her, please do not try to approach her (offer her food and water if at all possible) and call me day or night. Sophie is most likely hiding in bushes or in a protected area in the neighborhood. She may be sneaking in cat doors when it’s quiet for food. Thank you so much for helping bring Sophie home. Contact Cynthia 206-459-5563.

Gray Tabby named Nori missing from Phinney/Ballard

August 12th, 2014 by Doree

Update: Nori has been found!

Earlier: Nori, a gray Tabby, disappeared from her home in the 6200 block of 5th Avenue NW on the morning of Aug. 2.

Nori-cat-8-12-14-resized

She is 2 years old, about 7 pounds, does not have a collar but is micro-chipped. Her owner says it’s possible she’s been accidentally locked in a basement, shed or garage. See more photos in the Craigslist post.

She’s friendly, so it’s quite possible someone in the neighborhood started feeding her. If your neighbor tells you about the cute new cat they’ve seen hanging around, please have them get in touch with me, and/or take the cat to a vet or shelter to have it scanned, at no cost, for a microchip. Email rbn.dc07@gmail.com with any leads.

UPDATE: OWNER FOUND — Dog found at Green Lake this morning — is he yours?

August 7th, 2014 by Doree

Update: The owner has been found.

Earlier: Elizabeth tells us she found this beautiful dog while running around Green Lake this morning.

greenlakedog2

He very sweetly came to me, and shared a leash with my dog. We walked to the Greenlake Animal Hospital, and he was NOT chipped. Nor was he wearing a collar! But this is clearly someone’s pet. He’s a little chubby (not starving), rides well in the car, and walks nicely on a leash. I brought him to the Seattle Animal Shelter on Elliot Ave, in case someone goes looking for him there. Thus far, he has not been claimed. He was found at the north end of Greenlake.
