The Greenwood Knights car club, which produced the popular Greenwood Car Show on June 26, donated a total of $13,000 from the car show proceeds to two local non-profits.
At the end of the Greenwood Seafair Parade on Wednesday night, Greenwood Knights representatives presented a check for $10,000 to the Volunteers of America’s Greenwood Food Bank, and a $3,000 check to the Greenwood Senior Center, according to parade organizers.

So many cars, so little space to publish pictures of them all from Saturday’s Greenwood Car Show. We posted several photos in an earlier post, now here are a few more.
There were some beautiful paint jobs, like this red and black roadster.

And this shiny green truck.

And this beautiful blue car with white rag top.
This yellow racing car is from Evergreen Speedway.

Several bands played throughout the day.

The new Cornuto pizzeria at 7404 Greenwood Ave. N. seemed to be doing a brisk business.

And the fabulously-coiffed stylists from Fredericks salon, 8523 Greenwood Ave. N., were selling calendars and collecting donations for next year’s MS Walk.

Tens of thousands of people walked along Greenwood Avenue North Saturday during the 19th annual Greenwood Car Show, enjoying more than 700 cool cars from all eras.

There were really old roadsters.

And rows of muscle cars.

This orange truck had a matching bike in the back.

This shiny green VW Bug had a cushy spot for Kermit the Frog and friends.

Kids enjoyed the old-fashioned fire trucks.

And this 1939 LaSalle hearse, named “Resurrected.”

The Greenwood Car Show is a fundraiser for the Greenwood Food Bank. Half of the car entry fees are donated to the food bank, and people were encouraged to bring non-perishable food to place in donation bins at the Car Show. We’ll share the total raised as soon as the Car Show organizers, the Greenwood Knights, tally it all up.
Thanks to Mike V for some of the photos!

A Wedgwood author and Ballard illustrator have teamed up to write a children’s book, “Edsel McFarlan’s New Car,” and they’ll be doing book readings during Saturday’s Greenwood Car Show.
Max Holechek and Darrell Toland will read from the book at 10 a.m., 12 p.m., 2 p.m. and 4 p.m., and “How to Draw a Car” tutorials are at 11 a.m., 1 p.m., and 3 p.m. in the Kids Zone at Phinney Ridge Lutheran Church at 7500 Greenwood Ave. N. The hardcover book, for children ages 4-8, will be available for $15 (it will retail for $16.95 when available at bookstores in late July.)
The story follows the adventures of Edsel McFarlan, a young car enthusiast who receives, from a mysterious source, a model car kit that matches the full-scale of his automotive passion.
Memories of his childhood provided inspiration for author Max Holechek while writing Edsel McFarlan’s New Car. “I remember how my friends and I would imagine miniaturized version of ourselves driving our toy trucks, living in a doll house, or sailing swimming pool ships. I wondered: “What would happen if a kid got a model car kit that assembled into a life-sized automobile? And what funny things might happen once it’s built?”

The annual Greenwood Car Show is the one place where people who don’t even really care about cars suddenly go ga-ga over classic hot rods or a fleet of Minis.

Thousands and thousands of people are expected to once again clog the streets of Greenwood-Phinney on Saturday for the 18th annual event, put on by the Greenwood Knights car club. The show will run along Phinney and Greenwood avenues from North 67th Street to North 90th St. and Greenwood Avenue North. That’s longer than in previous years. The show runs from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., but the crowds historically stay long past 4.

Once again the show is hosted by Lance Lambert and will be filmed for his show, “The Vintage Vehicle Show.” But for the first time, the car show is an officially sanctioned Seafair event.

Lance Lambert filming at last year’s car show.
Admission is free, and includes live music from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and a kids zone, plus food and retail vendors. Beatles tribute band The Nowhere Men will play on the main stage at the corner of North 79th Street, in front of Matt’s Greenwood Auto Care. Also performing will be up-and-coming band Perry Acker and The Greenwood All*Stars.
The Kids Zone is on the lawn of Phinney Ridge Lutheran Church at 75th and Greenwood. PlayMatters will provide free kids activities, and there will be a display of vintage fire trucks from the Last Resort Fire Department.

A vintage hydroplane display from the Hydroplane and Raceboat Museum in Kent will be set up in Safeway’s parking lot at North 87th Street and Greenwood Avenue North.
Proceeds from car registrations and vendor sales will be donated to charity. Last year, the Greenwood Car Show donated $8,000 to the Greenwood Food Bank and another $2,000 to the Greenwood Senior Center. This year, all proceeds will go to the food bank. Barrels for donations of non-perishable foods also will be placed throughout the car show, and the Greenwood Food Bank delivery truck will be parking near the south end of the car show to accept donations. Elements Massage will be doing chair massages and donating all tips to the food bank.

The Greenwood Senior Center is holding an all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast for $5 from 7-10 a.m. at 525 N. 85th St. You’ll get pancakes, eggs, sausages, juice and coffee to fuel you up for the show.
