Free dental care for children on May 20 at UW

This is not in our neighborhood, but it’s important for some folks to know about. The UW and three community partners are offering free dental care for children ages 1-18 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Wednesday, May 20, at the University of Washington Center for Pediatric Dentistry, Magnuson Park, 6222 NE 74th St.

Children will receive an exam, cleaning, fluoride and sealants if necessary. Seattle Public Library will provide story time, and the Mariner Moose and Harry the Husky will be there.

Banner Dental opening in Greenwood

Neighborhood resident Dr. Lael Banner is opening a new dental practice, Banner Dental, in The Sedges, at 8540 1st Ave. NW, Suite 8, beginning Feb. 9.

“We are a kid friendly, and community based dental practice. Our goal is to provide our neighborhood with accessible, affordable, quality care,” Dr. Banner said by email.

Dr. Banner has practiced at his family’s dental clinic in Olympia for the past 11 years, but has lived in Phinneywood since 2007.

Magnolia dentist offering free exams, X-rays for children

This is not happening in our neighborhood, but is open to all children. Dr. Lina Kim at 3150 W. Government Way, Suite 1A, in Magnolia is offering free dental exams, cleaning, fluoride treatment and X-rays to children, as part of the American Dental Association’s Give Kids a Smile day, from 1-5 p.m. on Friday.
