Wierd to see the MarsHill Church advertising on Phinneywood. I actually saw the same ad on the back of
a Metrobus this afternoon. I guess there is no lack of money in the church's coffers.

A friend & I stopped in once-- we were in the UD and saw that they
were having a service. The pastor is young, hip and an alluring speaker.
It was also the most homophobic service I've ever heard.

    Caveat emptor...

I always have to wonder about churches who advertise. There are a lot of good reasons to be concerned with the theology of Mark Driscoll and Mars Hill. Particularly upsetting are his recent bragging statements about "throwing people under the bus" (his words) who happen to disagree with his particular "vision" for the church.

Is homosexuality the most important thing to consider when you look for a church? I hope not. There are a lot of other issues that are of greater importance. Homosexuality is a sin, but it's no greater than any other.

I'm surprised that a non-profit has that much money.

michael19, you just joined this forum and in your first post you're stating that you believe homosexuality is a sin? I'd say what you just said is more hateful than "throwing people under the bus". Heck, I've heard that phrase in business-speak more often than I'd like.

Hi Jeb! When did talking about sin become "hate speech?" The reason why talking about sin is NOT hate speech is because there is an answer to the sin problem.

That answer is Jesus Christ who died and paid the debt for my sins and for everyone else too. It is in Christ that we are all forgiven. This has been the basic teaching of Christianity for about 2000 years now. Sadly, even some of those who call themselves Christians do not know this. I hope that others who read this can know more about the saving work of Jesus Christ for everyone.

Ladybird is a real class act. I am sure that she worked out all of her differences with the pastor in private before coming to Phinneywood to throw stones anonymously. That would be the Christian thing to do.

We don't know exactly what the pastor said to deserve this attack. Unless I hear otherwise I will assume that what he taught is in agreement with what Christians have taught about homosexuality for the last 2,000 years. I am not a member of this church, but I am a Christian. Ladybird's comments are uniformed, hateful, and all too common in enlightened Seattle.

It's interesting how the editor here regularly censors content, but I have never know them to censor attacks on Christians. If one of us attacked a paying Phinneywood advertiser of a different religion would we be given the same leeway?

The organization seems to fit the definition of a store front cult. We shun them and feel sorry for the adherents.
