PhinneyWood Arts Council wants to make neighborhood an official Arts & Cultural District

by | Feb 10, 2016

The PhinneyWood Arts Council is hoping to make our neighborhood the city’s next official Arts & Cultural District.

Phinney Ridge and Greenwood have nearly two dozen community, educational and professional arts organizations (including Taproot Theatre, The Pocket Theater, the Phinney Neighborhood Association, All That Dance, Seattle ReCreative and American Dance Institute), and the neighborhood hosts numerous cultural events throughout the year, including the monthly Art Up Artwalk, the city’s second longest-running monthly art walk.

The PhinneyWood Arts Council is asking for neighbors’ help by completing a brief survey about how to better integrate arts and culture into the neighborhood.

The city’s Arts & Cultural Districts program is dedicated to nurturing and protecting the presence of arts and culture in neighborhoods, and provides public art, wayfinding support, district identification and help with cultural preservation. Currents Arts & Cultural Districts include the Central Area and Capitol Hill.
