PNA hiring for 4 positions at Whittier Kids Preschool and after-school program

The Phinney Neighborhood Association is hiring for several positions at Whittier Kids Preschool and Whittier Kids School Age Program, at Whittier Elementary, 1320 NW 75th St. Here are synopses of the job descriptions. For full descriptions, email [email protected].

  • Lead Preschool Teacher: Responsible for coordinating with the Assistant Director of Programming on curriculum and classroom management at Whittier Kids Preschool, and mentoring and collaborating with associate teachers and classroom parents on individualized, play based, developmentally appropriate programming and practices. Applicants need a bachelor’s degree or higher in early childhood education, child development, education or related field; two years of experience working with preschool children; familiarity with Teaching Strategies Gold or Creative Curriculum’s Developmental Continuum preferred; experience with the process of documenting observations and performing developmentally appropriate child assessments; current certification of CPR, First Aid and BBP Education instruction. The position is 40 hours per week, Monday-Friday, paying $16-$17 per hour.   • Preschool Teacher: Part-time position for general classroom supervision of children ages 3-5. Must be at least 18 years old; have experience working with children ages 3-5; Early Childhood Credits a plus; current certification of CPR, First Aid and HIV/Bloodborne Pathogens; documented negative TB test; food handler’s permit. The position is 25 hours per week, Monday-Friday, paying $15 per hour.   • After-School Lead Teacher: Responsible for coordinating with the Assistant Director of Programming on curriculum and classroom management, collaborates with associate teachers and parents, and also tutors two hours a week at Whittier Elementary. Requires a bachelor’s degree with Early Childhood Education credits preferred; two years of experience working with school age children; current certification of CPR, First Aid and HIV/Bloodborne Pathogens; documented negative TB test; food handler’s permit. Position is 22 hours per week, Monday-Friday, $16-$17 per hour.
