Zoo’s Pumpkin Bash, live music and Meaningful Movies in the neighborhood this weekend

Here are a few highlights of events in Greenwood and Phinney Ridge this weekend. Check our Events calendar for more.

Greenwood Meaningful Movies: “Feeding Frenzy” from 1-3 p.m. Friday at the Greenwood Senior Center, 525 N. 85th St.

Exploring Opera: Don Giovanni at Music Center of the Northwest, 901 N. 96th St., at 7 p.m. Friday.

PNA Science Fiction & Fantasy Book Exchange from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the PNA.

Violet Sweet Shoppe, which opened last week at 6410 Phinney Ave. N., is having its grand opening celebration all day Saturday, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Pumpkin Bash and “Boomazium” at Woodland Park Zoo Saturday and Sunday. Animals will get special Halloween-themed treats to eat and smash. Zoomazium, the zoo’s indoor play space, will be turned into a Halloween-themed Boomazium with storytelling, costumed puppet shows, face painting (for an additional fee), games and more, Mad Science programs will be from 11 to 2 p.m. in the Rain Forest Food Pavilion. (During Pumpkin Bash, one child 12 years and under in costume is admitted free with a paid adult.)

Tickets in advance (online or call 1-800-838-3006) are $16 general, $14 SFS/PNA members and seniors; kids half price. Tickets at the door are $2 more. Seattle Harmony Voice Lab from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. Sunday at the PNA, in the Brick Building.

Open Jazz Jam with Kenny Mandell (all levels welcome) from 2-4:30 p.m. Sunday at Couth Buzzard Books, 8310 Greenwood Ave. N.
