Farmers market, mystery book exchange, lots of live music in Greenwood-Phinney Ridge this weekend

Here are some highlights of events happening in Greenwood and Phinney Ridge this weekend. Check our Events calendar any time for more.

Today is national PARK(ing) Day, with about 50 parking sites around the city turned into mini parks for the day. Phinney Ridge has one pop-up park in front of A-1 Pianos at North 71st Street and Greenwood Avenue North, where passersby are encouraged to play the pianos.

Phinney Farmers Market from 3-7 p.m. Friday in the upper parking lot of the Phinney Neighborhood Association, 6532 Phinney Ave. While you’re there, the PNA is hosting a blood drive with Puget Sound Blood Center. It’s open until 7 p.m. (closed from 3-4 p.m.) Walk-in donors are welcome.

Lantern Brewing, 938 N. 95th St., will have live music in the tasting room from 6:30-9 p.m. Friday. Local duo “The Brewhouse Ramblers” will play Bluegrass, Gypsy Jazz and Western Swing tunes.

Beppa Studio, 7700 6th Ave. NW, is having its Fall Extravaganza from 4-8 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, featuring clothing, buttons, jewelry and more.

Couth Buzzard Books, 8310 Greenwood Ave. N., presents Classical Guitar Cabaret — Robert Vierschilling, Mathew Anderson, Stella Kosim, Jessica Papkoff at 7:30 p.m. Friday; Open Jazz Jam with Kenny Mandell from 2-4:30 p.m. Sunday.; and Randy Bowes and Teddy Boy Roix In Concert at 7 p.m. Sunday.

Mystery Book Exchange from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the PNA. Free if you bring your own gently used mystery novels and DVDs to trade (you’ll get one ticket for each paperback or two for hardbacks). If you don’t have any books to exchange, you can buy paperbacks for $1 and hardbacks for $2 each.

Seattle Folklore Society presents traditional Irish music with Kevin Burke & John Carty at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the PNA’s Brick Building. Tickets in advance are $18, $16 SFS/PNA members and seniors, kids half price. Tickets at the door are $2 more.

NW Firelight Chorale rummage sale from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at Phinney Ridge Lutheran Church, 7500 Greenwood Ave. N.

Cider pressing from 2-4 p.m. Saturday at St. John United Lutheran Church, 5515 Phinney Ave. N. Bring your own apples or pears to juice and jugs.

Nelson Wright: CD Release concert at 8 p.m. Saturday at Empty Sea Studios, 6300 Phinney Ave. N. Tickets are $15 in advance, $18 at the door.
