Bookstore grand opening, benefit concert, block party in Greenwood-Phinney this weekend

Here are a few highlights of events in Greenwood and Phinney Ridge this weekend. Check our Events calendar for more.

Phinney Farmers Market from 3-7 p.m. Friday in the upper parking lot of the Phinney Neighborhood Center, 6532 Phinney Ave. N.

Phinney Books is having its grand opening from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday at 7405 Greenwood Ave. N. Author readings, story times, treats and 10 percent off everything in the store.

Seattle Parks and Recreation is selling low-cost life jackets at Evans Pool at Green Lake from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.

Classical Guitar Cabaret with Robert Vierschilling, Jessica Papkoff and others, 7:30 p.m. Friday at Couth Buzzard Books, 8310 Greenwood Ave. N. On Saturday it’s Klezmer Solstice — Kesselgarden & Klezmer Bababustas at 7:30 p.m.

Phinney Neighborhood Community Chorus concert to benefit the George Marcellus School in Haiti, at 7 p.m. Sunday at Phinney Ridge Lutheran Church, 7500 Greenwood Ave. N.

Celebrate North Seattle block party from 2-6 p.m. Sunday at Oak Tree Village Plaza, 10000 Aurora Ave. N.

Acoustic Open Mic at 7:30 p.m. Sunday at Tim’s Tavern, 602 N. 105th St.

Don’t forget about all the traffic closures and disruptions this weekend. 520 is closed all weekend, the Fremont Fair is Saturday and Sunday (the parade starts at 3 p.m. Saturday), Seattle Rock n’ Roll Marathon is Saturday around the Seattle Center, and the northbound Alaskan Way Viaduct will be closed until Monday morning, with on southbound lane of Hwy. 99 also closed at South Lake Union from 4 p.m. Saturday until Monday morning.
