Taproot Theatre extends ‘Matchmaker,’ moves offices into new expansion

by | Oct 9, 2013

Taproot Theatre, 204 N. 85th St., is extending its run of “The Matchmaker” by one week, through Oct. 26. This Thornton Wilder comedy about love and money inspired the Broadway hit “Hello, Dolly!”
“The Matchmaker” is Taproot’s final regular season play of 2013. Its holiday show, “Le Club Noel,” runs Nov. 22 through Dec. 28.
And the grand opening of Taproot’s expansion is almost here. The theater has announced it’s moved its administrative offices from down the street into the new building. The expansion also houses a second, smaller theater, plus a scene shop, dressing rooms and café. Taproot says the expansion will open to the public “soon.”
The Kendall Center expansion replaces the Eleanor Roosevelt Building, which housed four restaurants and was destroyed by arson in October 2009.
