Farmers market, live music, art festival, home tour and more in Greenwood-Phinney this weekend

Here are a few highlights of what to do in the neighborhood this weekend. Check our Events calendar any time for more.

Phinney Farmers Market from 3-7 p.m. Friday in the upper parking lot of the Phinney Neighborhood Center, 6532 Phinney Ave. N.

The monthly Art Up and Chow Down Artwalk is from 6-9 p.m. Friday, with dozens of venues throughout the neighborhood participating. New to the Artwalk is Beats and Bohos, a vintage lifestyle shop that recently opened at 7200 Greenwood Ave. The store is hosting its grand opening celebration tonight with live music by Ecstatic Cosmic Union, plus DJ’s Veins, Explorateur and Jon Treneff.

Open Mic at 6:30 p.m. Friday at Woodland Park Presbyterian Church, 225 N. 70th St.

Friday Contra Dance at 7:30 p.m. at Phinney Neighborhood Center, 6532 Phinney Ave. N., Brick Building.

Underground Swing – Pacific NW Folklore Society Concert at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Couth Buzzard Books – Cafe Espresso Buono, 8310 Greenwood Ave. N.

School District Boardmember Sherry Carr will meet with constituents from 8:30-10:30 a.m. Saturday at Bethany Community Church, 8023 Green Lake Dr., in the Christian Education Building.

The AIA Seattle “Explore Design” Home Tour is this from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday with seven homes, including one in Greenwood. The “Family Share” house features two individual dwelling units spread over three stories on a small footprint.
Addresses of tour homes are emailed to ticket buyers. Tickets are $25 through Brown Paper Tickets.

The Seventh Annual Festival of Fruit at Carkeek Park is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Carkeek Park Environmental Learning Center, 950 NW Carkeek Park Rd. The free community event includes cider pressing, a pie contest, apple tasting, kids crafts, and a talk by fruit tree expert Dr. Beverly Gerdeman.

10 String Symphony with Josh Philpott at 8 p.m. Saturday at Empty Sea Studios, 6300 Phinney Ave. N.

Open Jazz Jam with Kenny Mandell & Don Berman at 2 p.m. Sunday at Couth Buzzard Books.

Marty O’Reilly & the Old Soul Orchestra with Porterbelly Stringband at 7 p.m. Sunday at Empty Sea Studios.

WEAVE Festival is underway with 60 artists at 10 venues in six neighborhoods, with live painting events, special exhibits and artist/curator discussions. Phinney-Greenwood participating venues include Bherd Studios Gallery at 312 N. 85th St.; Tasty Gallery at 7513 Greenwood Ave. N.; Urban Light Studios at 8537 Greenwood Ave. N., Suite 1.

WEAVE runs through Sept. 28.
