by | May 8, 2013

Food trucks will fill the Phinney Neighborhood Association’s parking lot at 6532 Phinney Ave. N. from 3-7 p.m. on Sunday, May 19, in a fundraiser for the University District Food Bank. Cost is $25 per person. The event is only for ages 21 and over.
Food trucks will include: Barking Frog Mobile Kitchen, Skillet Street Food, Street Treats, Veraci Pizza, Chopstix, Contigo, Hallava Falafel, Crisp Creperie and Seattle Biscuit Company, plus beverage purveyors Oola and Golden distilleries, Sozo Wines and Fremont Brewing Company.
Live music will be provided by The Blackberry Bushes, Washover Fans and Ali Marcus.
The University District Food Bank serves 1,100 families each week out of its current space, an 800-square-foot church basement. They have launched a fundraising campaign called “Fight Hunger, Build Hope” for a new facility that will be four stories tall, with a grocery store-style food bank, three floors of youth-focused low-income housing, job training, counseling, demonstration and teaching kitchen, and a rooftop garden.
The event’s $25 cost includes eight food bites and four beverage tastes. Those who donate $100 will receive the food bank’s new Community Cookbook with recipes from Tilth, Tavolata, Agrodolce, Crush, LloydMartin, Cafe Flora and other local favorites.
Tickets are available online.
