Like clockwork, thieves have begun to steal packages from front porches. We received an email from Kathy, who tells us someone stole mail and packages from her Greenwood porch several times over the past week. She’s heard from several neighbors that they were victims as well.
It’s a good idea to have packages shipped to your work address, or to a P.O. box or shipping business in your neighborhood, like Greenwood Sip & Ship.
I guess your porch is where tweakers look to see if Santa brought them anything.

Do check with your employers, though, about getting the OK to ship to work…I worked for a place locally once where management decided they had the right to open and inspect any parcels that arrived (this was long before 9-11) and when I checked with the post office as to whether this was OK, especially if it was addressed to a specific person in the company, they said that it was perfectly legal. Needless to say the women in the company were not happy with the piggy guy who was charged with this job opening their clothing parcels etc. It’s a good solution to ship to a work address but only if you don’t work for micro-managing managers with a vendetta.
Oh no, and those rural style mailboxes are a problem too. Remember the porch security videos from last year? Who is that lady on my porch? More people have probably installed security systems since then.
Has anyone had trouble receiving Amazon orders at their P.O. box? They use Fedex, which seems to register the Greenwood station as an incorrect address.
Trespassing and theft from the US Mail can be a serious crime if caught. Some of the tweakers follow the delivery trucks.
Time for whopper’s tried and true gag tweaker box: fill big box with peanuts, insert 2-3 cocked rat traps, make fake label with fake address and be sure to add an Apple logo. Leave by front door. Go have a beer and a good giggle
We have a nice box of dog poo for them.
Just had one stolen from my porch today sometime between 2-6pm. Guessing there isn’t much to be done about it? Pretty sad about the whole thing.
