Gaspare Ristorante & Bar in Phinney closing Saturday, but will begin catering for the holidays

October 25th, 2012 · Comments

Gaspare Ristorante & Bar at 6705 Greenwood Ave. N. is closing Saturday night. Co-owner Dianne Trani told me by email this morning that reservations are recommended for their last few days, as lots of people are coming to say goodbye. Gaspare is open from 5-10 p.m.

But Dianne says while she and husband Gaspare are retiring from the full-service restaurant business, they’ll offer catering in time for the holidays. The new catering menu will be online in a few weeks.

Trani says they own the building, and will be landlords to a new business coming soon. Stay tuned for more details on that.

Great food. Made my reservation for tonight. Will be sad to say ciao to that pollo pesto and lasagna.

We lived in the Seattle area 20 years ago, when Gaspare was in his original location. We frequented he place for years until we moved from the area. After the kitchen closed, he would bring port to our table, then sit and talk for hours. I don’t know if it is still on the menu, but his stuffed squid was something dreams were made of! Fond memories!

*sigh* loved this place both back in its Maple Leaf Days and now here on the hill. Will miss it! I hope the new tenants will run an equally relaxing, casual yet special-night-out-worthy restaurant. And I hope the Gaspare family enjoys a well-earned retirement.
