PhinneyWood reader KZ sent us this picture of a new Haitian food truck called Boungu KenKen, parked at 9796 Holman Rd. NW, by the Shell gas station and Luisa’s Mexican Grill.

“Very friendly owner and very tasty food,” KZ says.

Thanks for the photo and info, KZ!

If you get a chance, the owner is a Crown Hill resident and of course has a story to tell.

    Will stop by, any recommendations?

Cool! Thanks for sharing this. I’m excited about the food trucks in our neighborhood.

there’s just something about food trucks that make me wary. maybe it was the two days off work with projectile vomiting i experienced from the gut truck that came around at lunch every day. wienie grande, don’t try it.

John Walker, not all food trucks are created equal. Some are mobile gourmet kitchens, and the owners are passionate enough to care about the quality of their product. You just have to do your research, and visit the ones that are reputable.

I really like Jemil’s Big Easy, though, it’s a bit pricey.

You can get food poisoning from ANY restaurant – ask any restaurant critic. I once had a horrific bout of food poisoning after eating at Metropolitan Grill which is about as far from a food truck as you can get. Conversely, I’ve never gotten sick after eating from a truck.

I got dinner from there tonight, and it was delicious. I definitely recommend the shrimp sandwich and plantains. More food trucks please!

I get excited about food trucks and then they (incl. Jemil’s) break my heart by not being where I expect them to be.

We ordered from there the other night. Definitely recommend.

I’ve had the Haitian Chicken Sandwich twice now for lunch, and it’s become something that I crave. Yummy!
