Representatives of the Seattle restaurant chain Wing Dome, which includes the Greenwood-Phinney location at 7818 Greenwood Ave. N., were in New York over the Labor Day weekend to compete in the “Super Bowl” of the chicken wing world, the National Buffalo Wing Festival.
Wing Dome’s 7-alarm wings placed second out of 33 restaurants in the Hottest category.
“The festival attendees were so welcoming and our wings received rave reviews, which is a huge compliment coming from the birthplace of the ‘buffalo wing,'” Wing Dome Director of Operations Phil Warchol said in a press release. “The sauces we featured were our Bigger Badder Cheese, Sambal Peanut, Triple Garlic and Wing Dome’s traditional West Coast 4-alarm and smoking hot 7-alarm. The feedback was that our wing sauces marked a delicious difference from the traditional east coast vinegar-based sauces.”

Winners at the National Buffalo Wing Competition wait for the results. Wing Dome Director of Operations Phil Warchol is about four guys to the right of the emcee, wearing a black shirt and khaki shorts. Photo courtesy of Wing Dome.
