Umpqua Bank opening Phinney Ridge branch this fall

July 22nd, 2011 · 12 Comments

Umpqua Bank, based in Oregon, will open a new branch in Phinney Ridge this fall, in the space formerly occupied by Island Video, at 7116 Greenwood Ave. N., in the Infinity condo building.

Julie Dimick, Umpqua Bank’s senior vice president and director of real estate and facilities, tells us the branch will open sometime this fall. Construction should start in the next few weeks.

Umpqua just opened a branch in Queen Anne, and Dimick said Umpqua will open four more branches later this year in Magnolia, Ballard, West Seattle and Roosevelt Square.

Wow, this is questionably good news. I suppose there are worse banks then Umpquah.

If they’re successful we’ll see changes in our neighborhood(s).

I like change as long as it’s our change…..

    Umpquah, Oregon bank?

    Viking Bank where are you?

I’d rather have a bank than another “medical” pot dispensary.

“I’d rather have a bank than another “medical” pot dispensary.”

Hey, you’ll need some ‘medicine’ just to say the name of that bank.

Good to see something happening, but how far will the stock market drop this week? After ten years, will the Bush tax cuts finally create a few non military jobs?

Anon, so far medical pot dispensarys have not been a problem, have they? I hope I never need the stuff. If I ever do pot pasta is my way.

    Right on Block watcher.
Banks can be OK………. if not OK and we’re stuck.

Yes, let’s toss in some smarmy Bush comments. Never can get enough of that. Surprised there isn’t a call for a boycott of Umpqua since this is an out of state alond with breathless claims: “I WAS BORN HERE AND MY GRANDPA BANKED AT SEA 1ST BEFORE BofA TOOK THEM OVER!!! or some other anti- If it ain’t Dicks it sucks drivel!

I’ll check it out. Been looking for a local alternative to Chase that has a branch in the neighborhood.

Tahomajim, YES, pot dispensaries have already been a problem. Just read the news, or check seattle-crime.com. They have been robbed repeatedly. Basically, they attract crime. You could say the same thing about banks, but banks have had hundreds of years to adapt to it and deal with it. The pot dispensaries may be legal, but they are going to be a crime attractor for a long time.

    Sorry, make that seattlecrime.com.
