Have you seen Dexter?

Update: Dexter has been found!

Bridget tells us her new dog wandered away from home this morning.

He wandered off about 2 hours ago, we live at 65th and Dayton. He is a new dog so he does not have tags yet. Medium-large dog, doberman pinscher mix, looks a lot like a tall beagle. Someone said they saw him on Dayton at 70th about 2 hours ago, with a woman looking for his owners. If found, please call 206-406-6323 (Bridget). The dog’s name is DEXTER, and he generally comes when called.

If you own a dog, you buy tags on the way back from picking them up, before you get to your house. At the latest. Get a clue.

Look, I’ve found six lost dogs in the last year. Three of which had no tags and/or collars “because they never go out”. A jerk is someone who takes on the responsibility of owning an animal and then skips out on one of the easiest things to do: collar and tag. A super jerk then loses their dog and when someone returns it to them seems profoundly disinterested.

You forgot one definition of super jerk – someone who criticizes people when something bad happens to them, especially when it’s done in a cowardly way hiding behind a username in a comments field.

If you haven’t already, check with Phinney Ridge Animal Hospital and any other vet in the area. Be sure to go to the animal shelter in person. Don’t rely on staff recognizing your dog from a description. Tell everyone you see walking their dog. Let your mail carrier know. Hope you find him soon!

I wish people would leash their dogs. I see tons of dogs just wandering around, ready to get hit by cars. Hope you find Dexter.
