Henry replaces old mural with new overnight

July 29th, 2010 · 9 Comments

Sara sent us a note about a new mural by artist Ryan Henry Ward that replaced one of his old murals, and he did it under cover of darkness.

“Henry” painted a middle-of-the-night mural (three enormous walruses riding three tiny bicycles) last night on the west side of 8th NW, between 65th and 67th. It was formerly a different Henry mural (one with lots of eyeballs) that had been painted-over black about a week ago. Then last night, I saw him out there with spotlights, and this morning the new mural is done.

WAY better than the original. His work has really matured since he started.

Yeah, the old one got tagged a few weeks back, and then some actual message was sprayed on it. Glad to see it fixed.

I saw this driving into work this morning, had to call the wife and share. I love seeing all the new Henry art popping up in the neighborhood.

We live right around the corner, and some kid came by and tagged it about a week ago. The next day, Henry added his own comment under the kid’s tag - something like, “Hey [tagger], jealous?”. I was going to photo it and send it in because it was just great, but Henry showed up later that day and started painting over the mural. When we stopped to chat with him he just said, “It’s going to be better than before”.

    Go Henry!
