Update: Cation has been found!
Alina just sent us this note about her missing kitty:
My baby cat, Cation, is missing. He is about five pounds, eleven months old…He’s been missing since last night (Mon July 27). He lives at 59th and Phinney. I know he’s very scared and probably hiding in some tiny space and making sad meows. He’s an indoor cat but escaped so the outdoors is very new to him. If you see him, please call at any time 206-465-1936. Thank you for your help.

Ill keep Cation and Alina in my prayers! This happened to me last year with my kitty Peaches, and for four days I was a wreck and couldn’t sleep. But all worked out in the end, and somehow she found her way back to me, scared and covered in dirt but w/o harm. Good luck! keep faith

Alina, let the vets in the area know he’s missing. I would go door to door, let your mailman know, let anyone walking their dog/jogging/walking know. Also, putting out clothes you’ve worn or sheets you’ve slept on may help him find his way back. Putting his food out may also attract him. This site has good suggestions. http://www.missingpetpartnership.org/recovery-displacedcat.php

I “may” have seen your cat last night in my yard at 95th and 2nd ave nw. I went out last night to let my puppy do his thing and saw a cat similar looking to yours in my yard. I normally wouldn’t take notice, but I know all the neighborhood cats and the one I saw last night is one I’d never seen before. And she looked bigger than the other cats that have similar fur patterns. I’ll definitely keep my eyes posted, and if I see it again, won’t shoo it away, but instead will try to see if it has a collar.
I didn’t see it very long, but I would guess the cat I saw was bigger than 5 pounds though…
Anyways, I’ll keep my eyes posted.
Good luck.

It might be worth calling the Seattle Animal Shelter and seeing if they can refer you to someone local who can help you set a live trap for the kitty. There’s an informal network of people who trap and neuter ferals throughout the city and I’m sure there’s at least one in the Phinney area who might be willing to help you.

Wiley, when someone loses their beloved pet, they don’t need smart-as*ed comments like yours! We all hope you find your sweet little kitty soon.

There needs to be a way to tag comments as inappropriate. See Wiley, above. Anyone who has loved a pet knows how cruel that kind of comment is.

We’re glad to hear he came home and is safe & healthy! Next time he visits the vet, you may want to consider getting him a microchip just in case…
