Mimi Rose closing September 30

by | Jul 11, 2010

Mimi Rose children’s clothing and toy store at 6001 Phinney Ave. N. is closing its doors after 20 years.
Designer/owner Margaret Rose says business has been tough the last few years and she has the opportunity to travel for the next year, so she’s going to take some time off and then see if she wants to go back into business.
“It is a bittersweet thing,” Rose said today. “I’ve really grown to love the community and be a part of it. Business has been very difficult. I’ve been in business for 20 years. This is the most challenging it’s ever been.”
Mimi Rose has been in four locations over the last 20 years, first starting in the heart of downtown Seattle. Rose designs all the clothing and sold her products nationally for about 15 years.
With her youngest child off to college in the fall, she’s going on an “open ended adventure” to Turkey, where she plans to relax and rethink her business plans.
Mimi Rose currently has a going-out-of-business sale. All clothes are 25-75 percent off, books are 40 percent off, and toys are 25 percent off. And she still has plenty of inventory coming in over the next four weeks.
Her last day will be Sept. 30, and she may have store fixtures for sale during the last few days.
