Neighborhood musicians to perform at Folklife

We know of two Greenwood-Phinney folks who are performing at the annual Northwest Folklife Festival this weekend.

Singer/songwriter Ali Marcus will perform at 12 p.m. Saturday at the Folklife Cafe at McCaw Hall. Here’s Ali performing at last December’s Greenwood Fire Relief Fund Auction.

And Gary Paine will play his guitar for a sing-along from 1:30-2:20 p.m. on Saturday at the Discovery Zone Stage, next to the Pacific Science Center.

The Greenwood Family Sing (also known as Greenwood Song Circle) is leading a “neighborhood” sing-along at the Intiman Courtyard on Saturday, May 29 at 5 pm. We’ve been meeting monthly for over 20 years, and have been giving people a taste of the neighborhood group singing experience at Folklife for over 15 years!

Hey-o! I’m a member of Orkestar Zirkonium, and we’re performing friday night at the fountain stage at 7.40ish pm. Hope to see some friendly faces!

Andrew Buchanan will be playing his banjo on Blue Grass hill (West of the center house) where musicians meet up and jam, also he will be busking solo at various locations.
Andrew is an extreamly fast banjo player!

Les Fabulous Girls Du Ouest Coast play for contra dancing in the Road house at 6PM Saturday – a band of 2 dozen plus women that includes at least 3 from Phinney/Greenwood.

My band, Coventry, will be playing on Monday at 1:40 on the NW Court Stage, and my husband Steve Lalor and I will be performing with Broadside and the Handsome Cabin Boys at 5:50 Monday, same stage.
