There have been several different tenants in that house during the last 2 years. I don’t know if there is a connection, but based on the activity I have seen I certainly wouldn’t be surprised either.

I think this is the Greenwood Mission residence ~ transitional housing for homeless men.

(Greenwood United States Mission ~ you know those guys that walk around the neighborhood, knocking on doors soliciting funds? that’s them. )

I have seen For Rent signs up in the window several times in the last 2 years. If it was used by an organization like Greenwood Mission I don’t think they would need to post signs to rent the place.

I’m ALWAYS amazed where people’s small minds go and how they interpret situations w/o “facts”.

Hi Tom. I’m not surprised by ANYTHING these days. And besides I am talking about FACTS here, not “facts” as you say.

FACT: the house has not been the quietest or most stable place in the neighborhood.

Maybe you were reading your own interpretation into the other comments.

I’m just happy there are no longer dogs barking at me and chasing me along the fence line every time I walk by the place, since their owner moved out a month or two ago.

It’s a shame this had to happen on Easter but it’s still scary when fires hit this neighborhood. I saw the flames from my backdoor and called 911. You live in fear sometimes when fires seem to be a mainstream in your area.
I can also relate to Matt I don’t miss the dogs barking at 5am or scaring my kids walking home from school.

Hey all…This is not the Mission house, actually, which is just up 3rd from there. Its a big tan building on the East side of the street. This is just another house that seems to be chronically up for rent…way too many of those around here.

I actually saw the inside of this house once when it was listed on craigslist a couple years ago. Personally, I wouldn’t have rented from the owner–a ZZ Top lookalike– even if he had offered it at half price. My impression was quite bad. I’m not surprised that this house has attracted trouble, whether it’s accidental or not.

i used to live across the street. and yes it’s had ramdom renters with barking dogs and the owner lives far away so there is little to know checking up on tenants. he usually rents to people in their mid twenties and under. when i passed that morning a man was cuffed and getting into a police car and a girl was coming out of the house with what looked like many personal belongings. eviction gone bad??

I moved out of this house around two years ago and I had lived there for over a year. it was not a transitional house for homeless people. The landlord is a wonderful gentlemen and we never had any problems with this house. This house was my first real place in Seattle and I have several fond memories of it. I was very sad to hear the news. Granted the corner lot does attract some interesting visitors, but regardless if the landlord looks like zz top or Jerry Garcia, he is a wonderful guy and I am sorry to hear he has had bad luck with tenants.

This house was my “first” house and my favorite house. I miss my neighbors and thier radishes. I miss my dogs sleeping on the front porch in the summer sun. I miss my friends randomly stopping by to have a beer after work. I miss having a landlord that was an actual human being. And I miss the best place in Seattle up inflames.

oh and furthermore, i’m sorry that you feel that it is ok to make snap judgements on the tenants because they have dogs or because they are young adults. I am in my early 20’s and I have two dogs (a bassett hound and a boston terrier) and I always paid my rent on time and I was not partaking in illegal activities. Yes, this house may have attracted trouble but it’s not the landlords fault, and if you are neighbours and you saw this allegedly suspicious activity, maybe you all should have notified the police and then this wonderful house wouldn’t have burned down. Take some responsibility for your neighborhood, it’s a good neighborhood and the best part of it is gone.

Im sorry you feel that way Doug. I loved that cute home. As did my family.

I have some of the best fucking memories in this house! To see it damaged like this is heartbreaking… That was my bedroom where the flames shot out of… Does anyone know the cause of the fire?
