One fatality reported at Green Lake fire

If you’re hearing the sirens and helicopters, fire crews from all over north Seattle are on the scene of a building fire east of Green Lake.

Our sister site, MapleLeafLife is reporting one fatality.

It was a pretty dramatic scene when I drove by it – flames and billowing black smoke – I am amazed there were no other fatalities. Condolences to the friends and family of the victim.

So it turns out the fire was started by the victim — an elderly man who enjoyed smoking while using his oxygen tank.

Yeah. Fire and oxygen tanks. Can’t see why that’d be a terrible idea…
