Poetry polar bear plunge today at Green Lake

by | Dec 12, 2009

Want to feel a lot warmer than someone else? Come watch a bunch of poets take a Poetry Polar Bear Plunge into Green Lake at noon today.

Poets, organized by A. K. “Mimi” Allin, The Poetess at Green Lake, will meet behind the Bath House in bathing suits with a poem written somewhere on their bodies or suits, then psych themselves up for the plunge. See photos from last year’s event.

You can participate too, without dipping a toe in the ice-rimmed lake. Post a poem on a picket and bring it to the lake, or simply come to bear witness, hold towels, hand out cocoa and take pictures. If you go, send pictures to us to post!

You can find more info about this and other weekend events in our events calendar, including the Green Lake Pathway of Lights tonight.
