November 22nd, 2009 · 7 Comments

The Seattle Times reports that a woman was stabbed by a man she didn’t know Sunday night while walking near 90th Street and Holman Road. The woman was stabbed in the lower back, and was listed in stable condition at an unidentified hospital.

Thanks to Shay for the tip.

    Oh no! I hope she heals up quickly, and that the other person is caught.

    What time of the night was it?

    I’ve always felt the area immediately north of Fred Meyer and west to 8th was the “Twilight Zone”. Be on your guard.

    Where do these crazy people come from? How many stabbings / hold-ups do we have on a weekly basis, now? Ridiculous.

    Time for people to start taking self-defense courses / start carrying concealed weaponry.

    @Rain — Apparently happened around 7-8pm.

    I don’t see how carrying a concealed weapon would’ve helped in a case like this. (Mithril would’ve been good, however.)

    @Brian–yeah, that quiet neighborhood is a real “twilight zone” with lots of nice neighbors and folks living peacfully. Walk it some time.

    BTW, the stabbing was way west of 8th, over by the old QFC.

    I think women should at least carry pepper spray on their keychains and have it always handy while walking alone, no matter what time it is.

    stay safe!
