Greenwood resident Jessica Pelkey is so sick of the negative vibe that the arsons have caused around the neighborhood that she’s created a special Greenwood Love T-shirt line on Cafe Press, and she’s donating 15 percent of the proceeds to rebuilding the Green Bean Coffeehouse.
T-shirts are printed with the phrase, “Spread Love, it’s the Greenwood way.” Short-sleeve T-shirts start at $19.99 ($18.99 for kids). She’s also got a hooded sweatshirt, a shirt especially for dogs, buttons and mugs.

Best joke I have seen/heard all day!

^No kidding.
If the arsonist can’t profit from his crimes, at least someone can (to the tune of 85%!)

OMG what a lame slogan.

Are we all just a bunch of mean pessimists? And what exactly are you guys doing to help? I live in Greenwood and I love the idea. I plan on buying 2!

I agree with the first three posts. What am I doing to help? Making an outright contribution that benefits ALL the arson victims instead of personally trying to profit off the fires. This is gross opportunism. Fifteen percent goes to the Green Bean Coffeehouse so people think they are making a charitable donation. The other 85 percent goes to the person who spent how many minutes designing this shirt?
Also, how come the measely 15 percent that’s donated is only going to the Green Bean? It’s astonishing how much more publicity and donations the Green Bean is getting than all the other restaurants and other businesses that were destroyed or badly damaged in the arsons.
And yeah, the slogan? Lame… lame… lame.

Good idea, but if you buy from my store, I will donate 100% of the profits.

I think this is a very nice gesture and a well designed T-shirt. The way CafePress works, folks, is the company sets a base price for the product and takes a cut to create it. The seller can mark it up as much as they want. 15% is a reasonable markup to keep the price low to the buyer, and it sounds like she’s donating the whole profit to the efforts. This is very cool. Let’s go easy on her. The sentiment is what’s needed most.

The base price for this item:
http://www.cafepress.com/GreenwoodLove.417135861
is $15. 15% markup would make it $17 and some change. If she’s not pocketing 85% of the profit, I’ll take my store down.

I wonder if people who think we can love the dirtbags into stopping their criminal behavior ever consider that by “helping” these creeps and providing free services to keep them in the neighborhood, they are actually endangering their neighbors. But maybe it’s nobler to “help” a vagrant than it is to consider your neighbor’s safety.

I love the Greenwood tee shirts at the Sip n’ Ship–much cooler logo and better quality shirts (not this designer’s fault, but Cafe press shirts are CHEAP crappy tees). And since the Green Bean is set up there right now running the coffee shop portion, go in there, grab a coffee and a fashionable shirt and see that all the money goes right to the local businesses we so dearly love, and dress better for it!
