Car broken into in Greenwood, reward for stolen items

October 21st, 2009 · 4 Comments

Ben and Molly sent us this note this morning about a car break-in last night in Greenwood:

My car was broken into last night, Oct 20th. The car is a 2007 Grey Honda Accord and was parked uphill on the NE corner of 90th and Greenwood. The passenger side front window was smashed in and a black handbag was stolen. Nothing of value is in the handbag, but it does contain work stuff (badge, pager, research) that is really important to me. I’m offering $100 for the return of the bag and it’s contents, no questions asked.

If you have any information about this, please put a note in comments or email us and we’ll get in touch with them.

I am sorry to hear that, but as I have told everyone here in my house right up the hill from there, is again dont leave anything in your car day or night its just too easy of a target… Again I feel for the pain and humility of loosing your stuff and it being work realted is prob even worse. It has happened to me a few times and it really sucks to come out from a day at work and your window smashed and stereo is gone or even your whole car…

If the contents were that important to you, why did you leave it as a beacon in your front seat, flashing “Steal Me! Steal Me!” ?

Crime Prevention resides solely with each of us. The police are powerless in that regard.

Very helpful and eye opening responses as usual.

I would love to see a few cars planted around here with an expensive looking purse on the front seat, and a special device that waits for a glass-break and then grabs the arm that reaches into the car and staples it to the car ceiling. In the morning, the police could just roam through the neighborhood, cleaning out the traps.

I suppose the punishment is just a slap on the wrist though? Hmm, maybe leave them in the traps then.
