Ken’s Market installs new sign, expansion opens Oct. 7

October 1st, 2009 · 4 Comments

Ken’s Market is working hard to get the expanded store ready for its “soft opening” on Oct. 7. Here’s their new sign they’re installing this afternoon.

Ken’s will be closing early at 8 p.m. next Monday, and will be closed all day Tuesday. They’ll reopen in their new space on Wednesday morning. Then they’ll be remodeling their current space, and they hope to have their entire store ready to go by the end of the year.

Anyone know if the new space is bigger than the old? (obviously will be once both halves are open). What new offerings are expected from them?

I’ve heard they’re planning to have a bulk foods section which I’m hoping is correct.

    I really dig that font.

    MUCH MUCH MUCH better.

Thank god…the other was atrocious…no offense.

Hey all! I work at Ken’s in the deli. Blonde girl who usually makes your sandwiches and coffee.

Iron City Mike: Yep, the new part of the store is much bigger than our current space. At least 50% bigger. However! Things will be a tad crowded. The old store, once redone, will house the meat and produce departments, as well as some grocery. So during the switch, those departments will have temporary spaces and everything will be a little cramped.

I know every department will be expanding their offerings, and making an effort to bring in local brands. In the deli, we’ll be offering hot paninis, meats sliced to order, and a larger variety of hot and cold deli salads and entrees.

PAS915: I’m not sure about this, but I can get an answer to you by Monday.

Amalala: Agreed! Old font was pretty dated.
