Inside peek at Ken’s Market

September 22nd, 2009 · 6 Comments

Mike Veitenhans sent us these photos he took earlier today of the inside of the new section of Ken’s Market.

Below are the backs of Ken’s Market’s original owner Ken Giles (left) and current co-owner Bill Stamey (right) watching workers install signage inside the new store today.

This shot is looking west into the store, as the crew looks over the plans.

And here’s what the outside currently looks like, with the new metal awning over the sidewalk.

Mike said Ken told him the new section of the store should be ready by Oct. 8, then the old section will be remodeled.

Thanks for the pix, Mike!

Any chance the new location will be free of that annoying guy who always asks for small change, then doesn’t remember you an hour later if you buy him a sandwich or give him a dollar? I am sick to death of that guy. A real turnoff. Real Change guys are fine, but that guy creeps me out.

I agree. The homeless are real turnoffs and detract from the aesthetic loveliness of buildings. I trust they will not be a part of the new facility’s site plan.

Not talking about the building nimrod. Talking about getting hit up for money by the same guy upwards of a dozen times a week. Just wondering if Ken’s realizes that PC or no, that kind of thing gets to be a turnoff for a lot of people in the neighborhood.

Actually, Ken isn’t the owner anymore. He sold it several years ago to his son Scott Giles and son-in-law Bill Stamey. Ken still works there, though!

Being hit up for change all the time gets annoying, but we can always just keep on walking and as long as the panhandlers aren’t being agressive they have a right to be there.
