We’ve had a couple requests to add Sundown Saloon and Four Spoons Cafe to the Food & Drink section and I’ve finally gotten around to posting them.
Four Spoons Cafe, 850 NW 85th St., opened in June and is serving breakfast and lunch, in the space formerly occupied by Crown Hill Bistro and the Library Cafe before that. They recently got a beer and wine license as well.

Just to the east, Sundown Saloon, 820 NW 85th St., changed ownership last fall, added a full bar this past spring and offers a full menu.

So, if you’ve been to Four Spoons or the Sundown just west of Greenwood in Crown Hill, click through to Food & Drink to post your reviews.

Nearly everyone who walked into Diva Espresso on the corner of Greenwood and 80th yesterday asked the baristas why in the world they were painting the outside Pepto Bismol pink. The answer? They weren’t, that was just the primer.
Here’s what Diva looks like today, as they were finishing up the first coat of red paint on the front.

The currently red doors will be painted gold, the window sills will be black suede, and a few things will be highlighted in slate (read gray). It’ll take about two weeks to finish all the painting.

Thanks to Becca and Hilary for the tips!

Equinox Healing Arts at 7513 Greenwood Ave. N. is moving to Ballard next month. A sign in their window says their landlord raised their rent too much, so they had to move after five years.

Equinox offers massage, doula services and childbirth education. Their website and phone numbers will remain the same. They expect to open at 5343 Tallman Ave. NW, Suite 207, by early September.

Seattle Department of Transportation is not working on the Aurora Bridge during the day this week, as it previously said, so traffic should be flowing just fine over the bridge. But SDOT does still plan to repair an expansion joint on the bridge on Sunday. One lane will remain open in each direction from 5 p.m. to midnight.

Steven Cole Salon at 8408 Greenwood Ave. N. has long offered precision cuts and coloring services to men and women. Now, owner Steven Cordell is offering children’s haircuts one day a week.

Kids cuts are available on Mondays for $15. As the father of three children, Cordell said he wanted to offer another place in the neighborhood for affordable kids haircuts.

The intersection of 85th and Greenwood is a mess today as Seattle Department of Transportation crews fix the road where the water main broke two weeks ago.

Westbound 85th Street traffic can’t cross Greenwood Avenue at all, so you’ll have to turn right or left on Greenwood. There’s only one lane of eastbound 85th Street traffic from Palatine Avenue to Greenwood Avenue. North-south Greenwood Avenue traffic is fine, although, obviously, you can’t turn westbound onto 85th. Officers are directing traffic around the area.
Crews are digging up the surrounding crumbling street so they can lay new asphalt.

Here they’re using a mighty big wetsaw to cut out the panel.

Sarah just informed us that Take 5 Urban Market on the corner of 8th Avenue NW and NW 70th Street just signed up on Twitter and is now Tweeting its lunch and dinner specials. Now, you don’t have to walk down there or even pick up the phone to know what’s for dinner.
Do you know of any other restaurants in the area that Tweet their specials of the day?

The Baha’i Center at North 79th Street and Fremont Avenue is installing a community garden, and they need some help getting it all ready. Bring your shovels, garden spades, weed wackers, etc. from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. this Saturday to help cut the grass, lay out cardboard and spread compost and manure to begin the process of sheet mulching (sod removal).
If you have a truck, please email or message Ashley. There are wood chips available near by that we can pick up if we have a truck (which we need). Thanks!! Please RSVP to Ashley (206) 375-9855 / ashley.pohlmann@gmail.com.

Everyone’s invited to a party in Greenwood Park from 1-4 p.m. on August 30. It’s hosted by Vision Greenwood Park, which wants to hear your ideas for expanding the park at North 87th between Evanston and Fremont Avenues (and you can fill out their survey here).
Come to Greenwood Park for a party with a purpose. Enjoy free food donated by local restaurants including Molly Moon’s, Mr. Gyro’s, and Olive You along with barbecue home-cooked by volunteers. While you’re having fun at the Park you can also see sketches of plans for expanding and improving the Park.
Vision Greenwood Park is a group of neighbors working to improve and expand the Park. We have been talking to community groups, park users, neighbors and others about how to best grow the Park. Based on what we’ve heard, we’ve developed a range of alternative designs for adding more features and activities to the Park. Come see the range of plans and let us know what you’d like to see in the future.

Here’s a story that got lost in the shuffle of last week’s fires and flood. Phinney Ridge’s new Hazel Salon & Organics (a PhinneyWood sponsor) puts all that cut hair to good use cleaning up oil spills.
KING 5 profiled owner Tara Berg on Aug. 13. She sweeps up hair and sends it off to an organization called A Matter of Trust, which turns the hair into oil-absorbing mats.
