Carmelita vegetarian restaurant at 7314 Greenwood Ave. was closed last week for remodeling and hoped to reopen last Friday night, but the remodeling took longer than expected. I talked to Mary, the host, this afternoon, and she said they now plan to open at 5 p.m. Tuesday night.
The remodeling included installing a new bar along the east wall of the main dining area. “It’s really rich colors, and it will seat about 12,” she said. Their secluded outdoor patio remains open for the summer.
And addressing rumors that the restaurant was for sale, Mary said emphatically not! “Why would we sell now after doing all this work? We’re just getting bigger and better,” she said.

Doesn’t Stumbling Goat have a patio?
(Where was that original rumor posted, anyways?)

(aha, found it… too scatter brained today)

The rumor was originally posted on MyGreenlake.com (no relation to MyBallard, by the way). Stumbling Goat has sidewalk seating, but opened in 2000, so it’s not the 12-year-old restaurant mentioned in that post (and Stumbling Goat was just purchased by new owners a couple of weeks ago).

I was kind of hoping Carmelita was sold and that the new owners would be capable of tasting how much salt is poured into their food.

Aw, thanks for the link back, phinneywood!
As we reported (right over here, BTW: http://www.mygreenlake.com/2009/07/carmelita-restaurant-forsale/ ), an award-winning restaurant in Greenwood/Green Lake is on the market. It has been offering up fine dining in the Northwest style since 1996. On a secluded garden patio. With a bit of heavy hand when it comes to salt.

Someone’s (Carmelita’s host) not telling us the whole story.
There’s a business broker who is trying to sell a restaurant with the following description: http://broker.businessmart.com/jpm?bid=54431&award-winning-fine-dining-restaurant-greenwoodgreenlake-seattle-washington
Two key descriptors are the fact that the business started in 1996, and has a garden patio.
Take a look at Carmelita’s website and you see that both of those fit. http://www.carmelita.net/info.html
I can’t think of any other restaurant in the area that the business-for-sale notice could be describing.
