The Phinney Market, 5918 Phinney Ave. N, is very close to opening. Here’s a couple pics from one of the vendors:

Beth, from Honey! I’m Home! catering, added this along with her photos:
I was at the Phinney Market today, taking some of our products to stock. John, Angela and scores of friends and family were there to help put the final touches on the store. It’s lovely. Lots of fun, unusual items – along with lots of local producers (including us! Honey! I’m Home! Catering).
They’ve got a great deli counter and their own chef, making take away food and sandwiches to order. They even have an ice cream counter for the kids (and grown up kids).
They’ll be a great addition to the neighborhood.
Keep your eyes open for the paper on the windows to come down.

I hope they succeed! I wanted very much to like the former market, but never felt very welcome there… some strange vibe.
I’m always looking for more lunch options in the neighborhood.

This place rocks. The new owners couldn’t be nicer. Yay! So nice to have a business OPENING these days!

Nicely gentrified, thanks.

I know what you mean, Cathy, I wanted to like the old PM too, but there was something uncomfortable about it. The staff was always friendly to me, so that wasn’t it. I do have a friend who applied for a job there once, and had a less than positive view on the owner, so I don’t know if that had anything to do with it.
From the pics, and from what I have seen walking by, I’m REALLY excited about the new opening! Looks like it will be a great little place to stop in on my way home.

I wasn’t really a regular customer of the old PM or anything, but the couple times I was in there my impression was always “yikes! This is more overpriced then Ken’s!” but hey, I’m a cheapskate I guess.

The previous owners were awesome. So sorry to see them go. I’m sure John will put together a great store. It’s VERY competitive out there and more so with Trader Jo’s opening up. Every neighborhood needs a little market like this. Hope this can make it where so many others have had a rough time.
