March 12th, 2009 · 6 Comments

Lemon Meringue Boutique is closing its store at 7720 Greenwood Ave. N. this Friday. According to an email sent to customers by owners Amy White and Carie Cook, they’ll be having a “grand closing” sale. Lemon Meringue sells women’s, maternity and children’s clothing. The boutique is still participating in Friday’s Art Up/Open Up art walk, featuring the work of travel photographer Kristen Imig.

Bummer. I went in here one weekend and they actually sell pretty cool clothes. But for that price point I am not suprised it has to close; Greenwood isn’t exactly the upscale urban mecca neighborhood that this store needs.

Yeah, very cool clothes and jewelry, and I appreciated the little area for kids to play. Just wans’t in my price range.

Greenwood looks like a hard place for retail stores to survive.

It is a tough and rough retail environment for all our small businesses. Many on the verge of closing. So PLEASE, if you have some dollars to spend, shop with your local small businesses. Your dollars mean staying open to them. Thank you Lemon Meringue.

Just wanted to say, in case the owners see this, that I always wanted to go in but couldn’t afford to (honestly couldn’t). It looked like a really nice collection and I appreciated that they had plus-sized and maternity clothes too. I am sorry you didn’t make it, and good luck to you.
