Tossing turkeys at the zoo

November 18th, 2008 · 4 Comments

The Woodland Park Zoo thinks its animals deserve Thanksgiving festivities, too, so from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. on Saturday they’ll be giving some of the animals raw, store-prepared turkeys at the annual Turkey Toss. The lucky animals include jaguars, snow leopards, golden lion tamarin monkeys, arctic foxes, piranhas, wolves, pigs, komodo dragons, grizzly bears, lemurs and tigers.

I had no idea tamarin monkeys were carnivores (omnivores really I assume)

As long as you’re not squeamish this should be a ton of fun!

    Thanks for posting this!

pioggia — Golden lion tamarins eat a lot of insects in the wild, as well as some small birds, lizards and eggs. So the turkey should be a nice treat for them.
