Phinney Ridge resident Jody Laine is looking for donated watches to repair and give to various charities. Jody is the owner of a Capitol Hill business, Tiempo Watch and Clock Shop. Here’s a letter from Jody:
For many years my store, Tiempo Watch and Clock Shop, has gathered used watches, refurbished them with fresh batteries and new watchbands, given them a polish, added nice packaging and then we donate them (along with brand new watches and clocks) to over a dozen residence shelters and a variety of programs that serve low income families. Of course a watch and alarm clock make all the difference in one’s ability to keep on schedule, catch transportation and do many things most of us take for granted.
As you can imagine, this year the need is greater than ever. The Workers at Tiempo have already prepared over 100 timepieces to send out, but we could easily use 100 more…Drop your donations off at Tiempo, located on Capitol Hill on 14th between Pike and Pine Streets. Our phone number is 206-726-8551.

How can I get old watches to you so you can refurbish and give to charity?

I have several watches that do not work any more. I really hate to throw them away as I am sure they could be fixed. Are you still looking for donations? Where can I mail them if you are still taking donations?

I just cleaned out a drawer and found 7 old watches. Can you still use them? I think some just need new batteries and straps.
