Looking for used watches to refurbish for charity

November 17th, 2008 · 14 Comments

Phinney Ridge resident Jody Laine is looking for donated watches to repair and give to various charities. Jody is the owner of a Capitol Hill business, Tiempo Watch and Clock Shop. Here’s a letter from Jody:

For many years my store, Tiempo Watch and Clock Shop, has gathered used watches, refurbished them with fresh batteries and new watchbands, given them a polish, added nice packaging and then we donate them (along with brand new watches and clocks) to over a dozen residence shelters and a variety of programs that serve low income families. Of course a watch and alarm clock make all the difference in one’s ability to keep on schedule, catch transportation and do many things most of us take for granted.

As you can imagine, this year the need is greater than ever. The Workers at Tiempo have already prepared over 100 timepieces to send out, but we could easily use 100 more…Drop your donations off at Tiempo, located on Capitol Hill on 14th between Pike and Pine Streets. Our phone number is 206-726-8551.

I have several watches that do not work any more. I really hate to throw them away as I am sure they could be fixed. Are you still looking for donations? Where can I mail them if you are still taking donations?

I just cleaned out a drawer and found 7 old watches. Can you still use them? I think some just need new batteries and straps.

Do you still take donations of watches that need batteries and/or watch bands? Please let me know how to get them to you.

I live in Maine and I’d love to be able to donate some old watches to someone who could fix them up. Is this still possible? Please let me know.

I figure you got more watches than you would want…do you know of any other organizations that would like watches also? Living overseas, makes it difficult to drop off, I would need a mailing address.

    thank you
