Ribbons & stars adorn 70th St. in Phinney

November 14th, 2008 · 5 Comments

Noah first told us that someone strung a lot of pink ribbon around utility and street sign poles along 70th St. in Phinney Friday morning. They also hung some big gold stars that look like giant Christmas ornaments. The biggest display was on all four corners of 72nd and Sycamore, and there was a slightly smaller display two blocks up at 70th and Palatine.

They even wrapped the ribbon around three unplanted trees sitting in the sidewalk strip. While the decorations were mostly on those two corners, we noticed smaller bits of ribbon or a single star in several other places nearby. They even decorated this fire hydrant.

It’s rather festive, but we’re curious to know who did this and why!

I saw this yesterday – I could have sworn I saw some of that ribbon on 65th, as well.

great antidote for gray, damp days…it’s like being given a present by a secret admirer!

I saw the ribbons and stars along 70th street during my morning walk yesterday and asked a couple of neighbors who were visiting on a street corner if they knew the origin? Fairies, they answered.
