How on earth does this place stay in business? Has anybody ordered anything edible here? I certainly haven’t.

This is the type of Chinese food you had when you were a kid. All the traditional dishes and fresh ingredients. Order anything with shrimp–they give you plenty of them and they are large and yummy! I’ve eaten a lot of Chinese food up in this area and this one is the best.

We go here often, usually to celebrate something, and the food has always been excellent. Their house pan-fried noodles are the best around!

Bland and tasteless.

We’ve tried to eat there twice and had really lousy food both times. I don’t understand why some people like this place.

I’ve lived in Greenwood/ Phinney for 12 years and have been coming to this place as my local chinese food establishment. It’s not fancy on the outside nor on the inside. I’d argue though that the food has not yet let me down. I want honest food at a good price and Greenwood delivers. Ma Po Tofu, Mu Shu anything are my favorites. Yumm, thanks for consistenly providing to us locals for years.

Remember when you were a kid and your parents used to take you to the local Chinese restaurant on a Saturday, or after church, or something? Maybe it was in a strip mall? Well, Greenwood Mandarin Restaurant tastes JUST LIKE that restaurant did. Which is good or bad, depending on how you feel about it. The people are super super nice. My eight year-old absolutely loves going here. She recommends the sweet and sour chicken, or the duck.

I tried it once 5 years ago and haven’t gone back since. It was sort of like the Chinese food I would make when I was a kid – poorly prepared and a little greasy. However, I’ve only been their once and it appears others have better experiences. I’ll try it again in a few years. Until then, I’ll thrilled that Chef Laio opened.

Dependable Chinese food.
The Hot & Sour soup is a cure for Any cold or flu you might have.
Greenwood Prawns also a house favorite.

Never mind the food, the Mandarin is all about the bar. No posers, friendly bartender, stiff drinks.

A raunchy old haunt I’ve frequented many times for grins over the years, the place is fugly old, the food is either great or awful depending on what you order, I do feel sorry for that giant goldfish in the tiny tank thats been there for as long as I can remember though.. maybe we can get those PETA folks to come give it a toss in greenlake! haa

And btw if you ask how this place can stay in business, at least they are serving some food. I have been asking for years how that “do it yourself dog wash” down the street has ever been there so many years, running joke in the hood is its gotta be some kind of mob front

Mmm… Greenwood Prawns. Not much else to write home about ut man, are those prawns something else. Not for the dieter, mind you.
And as a Rub-A-Dub Dog patron who routinely has to wait for an empty stall, perhaps you should try looking in the window…

This place will always have a soft spot in my heart. I went into labor with my youngest child while having dinner there. Of course, I finished eating before going to the hospital. This was 15.5 years ago.

i have been eating here for years and love this place…it is not fancy, but is just the kind of neighborhood place you go to where they recognize you, greet you like a friend and you can order ‘the usual’. The Kung Pau is great…

I have been eating in that restaurant with my family for over 20 years. I have never had a bad meal and loved the family feeling. People knew me and my family by name . I went in there last night with my family and was shocked. All the fun business cards we used to read under the table glasses were gone and new staff who didn’t know us are there. It was a really sad moment for me. However, the food was still excellent. I have brought friends from NYC there and they thought the food was excellent. One of them was Chinese no less. I am sorry to see it so changed.

The food is still good, but if you want to see all of the old servers, go to Ballard Mandarin. That’s where they are now.

My friend and I go there almost every Friday night. I’m a fan of chicken, so I can only say that I’ve had every chicken dish on their menu, and it’s never been “awful” like some say… some nights are better than others, just like any other restaurant. My personal favourite is their Shanghai Chicken… 4 stars.
